Wild Child Kitchen and Trunkaroo have come together to celebrate the arrival of spring by hosting a family workshop at The Bright Emporium on Saturday 1st April from 10.30-11.30am. The workshop is aimed at ages 3-6, but littler and older ones are of course welcome!

Children will be able to explore spring and its array of smells and tastes through a variety of activities and science experiments such as bag making, cookie decorating and sensory play. Guests will have the chance to pick up nutritious snacks from Wild Child Kitchen, and the Trunkaroo team will be on hand offering advice to parents about supporting creative and hands-on, project based learning for children.

Little ones can take home their creations as well as extra treats and offers from Wild Child Kitchen and Trunkaroo.

Build an imaginative play area in this artist-led family workshop inspired by Child’s Play.

Work collaboratively with photographer Marysa Dowling to build a play area out of recycled household materials. Taking inspiration from Mark Neville’s project Child’s Play, families will be photographed playing within their newly-created space. The workshop is suitable for children age 5 and up. Free for children and up to two accompanying adults. To take part, sign up on the day.

Imagination Lab presents – ‘lab life: reality in partnership with Rolls-Royce’ – family workshops to inspire young minds.

At the Imagination Lab we offer young people opportunities to experiment, innovate and create using a range of tools to develop new ideas. Our ‘lab life’ family events provide a series of half-day workshops where families can explore, tinker and create together.

The theme of ‘reality’ will feature facilitated activities with a focus on design, mechanics and engineering, as well as new technologies including augmented and virtual reality. Our Imagination Lab on London’s Albert Embankment will be transformed into three zones which invite children to tinker and engineer, design and build and to explore the future.

This is an interactive event ideal for children aged 5 – 12 and their accompanying parents and carers.

These are ticketed events with limited availability. Learn how to tie knots and make your own skipping rope in this free family workshop.

Inspired by the rope-making lessons for boys at the Foundling Hospital, learn how to tie a variety of knots. Make ropes out of different materials, then adapt them into a skipping rope to take home and play with. The workshop is suitable for children age 5 and up. Free for children and up to two accompanying adults. To take part, sign up on the day.

Come along to our Arts & Crafts workshop with an Easter theme! A workshop in two parts, for children age 6-12.

In the first part, make an Easter egg decoupage: paint your own polystyrene Easter egg and then discover the art of decoupage to decorate it using cut-outs from various types of paper using ideas from William Morris’s famous bird and flower designs. Then in the second part, make your own Easter rabbit mask with inspiration from William Morris’s own Brother Rabbit design.

All materials are supplied and you will take home your Easter creations.

Refreshments (squash & biscuits) provided after the first part. Please note that children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult.

Vauxhall Trust and the Friends of Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens invite you to the Third annual London Tournament of Full Contact Medieval Combat.  Competitors come to London as the last stop before the World Championships, which this year are being held in Barcelona a week after St George’s.
There are representatives from a number of countries where St George is celebrated.  Also traditional dancing, wrestling, food and wine from Georgia, in association with the British Georgian Society.  Hand made cork products from Portugal and a mystery entertainment from Bulgaria.
Everyone’s favourite Punch and Judy show will be back on the Gardens with Mr Punch delighting the crowds with his antics in this traditional artform that originated in Italy and came to London in the 1600s. Ha Ha hopscotch will be running races and traditional games for the kids and are always a lot of fun. Vauxhall City Farm will be bringing out some animals too with ducks, chicks, rabbits and donkeys. There are also pony rides between 2 and 3 on both days.

Usually closed to the public, explore a treasure-trove of 320,000 artefacts from London’s transport history with activities and talks laid on too. Visitors can enjoy art and poster tours, listen to fascinating talks including the marvels revealed during the Crossrail excavation, and get involved in family fun. The programme also includes miniature railway rides, and object handling. Visitors can also enjoy refreshments from a vintage vehicle pop up food village and shop for unique transport related products.
