TUNNEL: THE ARCHAEOLOGY OF CROSSRAIL

The most complete range of archaeological objects unearthed by the Crossrail project, Europe’s largest infrastructure project, will go on display alongside the story of this great feat of engineering in a major new exhibition at the Museum of London Docklands next year.

Thomas Pink will be transforming the legendary White Horse pub, Parsons Green into The Pink Lion Rugby Club for a family festival of rugby celebrating the upcoming Lions Tour to New Zealand.

From today, parents can put their children forward for a rugby masterclass with Lions legends Brian O’Driscoll and Matt Dawson as well as some Lions picked for the 2017 Tour to New Zealand (to be announced after at the end of April). Masterchef winner Phil Vickery will be flipping Kiwi burgers on the club BBQ and there will be a Q & A with the rugby stars, including Pink Lion Rugby Club captain Brian O’Driscoll and Matt Dawson.

Curated by Hemingway Design, Urban Village Fete provides an alternative, contemporary twist on the traditional summer fete for the Peninsula’s pioneering residents and all Londoners.

Having attracted more than 25,000 visitors in the past two years, 2017’s event looks to be a bigger, bolder celebration of the best in design, music, art, innovative events and modern craftsmanship, right at the heart of Greenwich Peninsula. The free day out will feature a range of curated designer marketplaces, street food vendors, art & design workshops, unique pop-ups and a series of talks hosted by BBC Radio London’s Robert Elms.

For music lovers, Gilles Peterson, the iconic British DJ and owner of Brownswood Recordings will be at the helm all day. There will be walkabout entertainment throughout and a line-up of interactive workshops for all ages including the chance to become a DJ for the day with The Charity Shop DJ.
