FRIDAY FIVE – THINGS TO DO THIS WEEKEND

FRIDAY FIVE – THINGS TO DO THIS WEEKEND WITH THE KIDS

Sorry to bang on about the weather each week, but have we had summer? No matter – our Friday Five will lift spirits as we explore the best things to do this weekend with the kids. (In London!)

Saturday & Sunday
ASTÉRIX IN BRITAIN: THE LIFE AND WORK OF RENÉ GOSCINNY
The Jewish Museum – www.jewishmuseum.org.uk

Gathers over 100 items from around the world, to be displayed for the first time together in the UK, including original artworks, scripts and storyboards as well as Goscinny’s own tools, sketchbooks and family photographs. The exhibition highlights this writer’s contribution to European culture, at the same time as unearthing the substance of his Jewish heritage.

Saturday & Sunday
BARNES CHILDREN’S LITERARY FESTIVAL
Various locations, SW13 – www.barneskidslitfest.org

Much is sold out, BUT, there is a full programme of FREE events for kids all weekend. Well worth a visit.

Sunday
COVENT GARDEN MAY FAYRE
Covent Garden – www.coventgarden.london

There won’t be many 365th birthdays you’ll ever go to, but on Sunday you can celebrate with Mr Punch. Free event for all the family.

Saturday
SPACE SPECTACULAR
Royal Albert Hall – www.royalalberthall.com

Music played by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, composed by Holst, Strauss and award-winning John Williams. Think Star Wars, Superman, ET and Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

Saturday & Sunday
VENOM – KILLER AND CURE
Natural History Museum – www.nhm.ac.uk

Last chance to catch this exhibition which examines the role that venom has played in society around the world. Not for the faint-hearted!
