Fancy a Saturday with a difference, then heading to Ascot could be your answer. Tomorrow the famous racecourse plays host to the Summer Mile Family Raceday where there’s quality horse racing as well as entertainment for the kids. Plus, they go free!

Alongside a seven race card featuring the £110,000 Group 2 Fred Cowley MBE Memorial Summer Mile and the £100,000 Totepool Heritage Handicap visitors can kick off the summer holidays with Champagne and picnics on Ascot’s elegant lawns, and a Family Area featuring a children’s carnival, free fairground rides, a Teddy Bear’s picnic, and much more. Children under the age of 18 enter the racecourse for free when accompanied by a full paying adult.

Young racegoers will be entertained throughout the day where they can meet and greet furry friends such as Paddington Bear, Cheer Bear and Scotty the Ascot mascot at the Teddy Bear’s Picnic. Interactive story-telling of ‘We’re Going On A Bear Hunt’ will be led by Rosie Tells Tales, and an arts and crafts area will be led by Lloyd Warbey from Art Attack. Other activities for youngsters include Clip Clop Pony rides, magicians, balloon modelling, face painting, live music, jugglers and soft play.

The Summer Mile Racing Weekend is the link between two of Ascot’s premier race meetings, falling between Royal Ascot in mid-June and the King George VI Weekend at the end of July.
