City Kids Magazine, The Little Gym Chiswick and Izzy Judd team up to deliver a Mindfulness for Mums workshop hosted by Beverley Turner
When running after the kids, working, juggling and managing life gets a bit too much, some time out can be just what’s needed. But when your list of things to do only gets done when you do it, setting time aside is really difficult. That’s where Izzy Judd’s recent book release Mindfulness for Mums can help. At a workshop organised by City Kids and The Little Gym Chiswick, Izzy had the chance to show some of the techniques she uses to stay calm each day.
Broadcaster and owner of The Happy Birth Club, Beverley Turner, opened proceedings with a question and answer session. The mums gathered got to know Izzy a little better and discovered how mindfulness has helped her anxiety, and more importantly, how she now weaves it into her day.
Very quickly into the session, Izzy put everyone at ease as she demonstrated some easy exercises to help mums feel calm and connected to the world before answering questions from the floor.
Izzy said: “As mothers, we grow humans, our bodies have changed, how we feel about ourselves is quite different and this mindset can be negative. If we can change these negative conversations into positive ones, we won’t feel like we’re constantly failing.”
Izzy also talked about creating a mindfulness corner for little ones as she’s done for her children, Kit and Lola. It’s a safe place they can go to with a cosy blanket to sit on and a basket of items such as puzzles, colouring and a cuddly toy.
While mums were engaged in the workshop, the children were entertained by staff at The Little Gym who introduced them to their exciting gymnastics equipment. Win, win for everyone!
