Join the race to help beat childhood cancer with this family day out.
Are you looking for a day out with a difference? This 5k fun run and family festival ticks all the boxes. Set among the beautiful autumn leaves of Hyde Park, RBC Race for the Kids – held this year on Saturday 7 October – is an annual fun run that raises much-needed funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity. Participants are encouraged to join the race their way, whether you walk, jog, wheel or scoot. Four-legged friends are welcome and, what’s more, children go free!
Take your time around the 5k scenic route or race your family and friends to the finish. It’s an action-packed day for all ages, and the course has been specially designed to be accessible to everyone, which means pushchairs, wheelchairs and scooters will have no trouble getting around.
But it’s not all about the race. RBC Race for the Kids is known for its incredible atmosphere, with a family festival to enjoy once you’ve completed the course. After collecting your medal at the finish line, make your way to the buzzing event village where you’ll find lots of live entertainment, including acts from performing arts group Spirit Young Performers Company and the team at Butlin’s. You might even spot a few famous faces…
With arts and crafts, face painting, a bubble performer, crazy golf, climbing wall, circus workshop and a bungee trampoline, there really is something for everyone! Plus, there will be food and drink available to keep you fed and hydrated among all the action.
If that’s not enough, you’ll be contributing to a fantastic cause by joining the race to help beat childhood cancer. The money raised from RBC Race for the Kids 2023 will go towards a new, world-class Children’s Cancer Centre at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Designed with the needs of children and their families at its heart, it will be a gateway for children to go on to better futures, where they not only survive, but flourish.
While you’re encouraged to raise as much as you can, there’s no minimum fundraising pledge. It’s all about getting out there and having fun. There’s a fee of £21.50 for adults (until 28 September when the fee will increase to £25), but you can register under 16s for free. And no is registration required for your furry friends!
Once you’ve signed up, you’ll get a race pack in the post, including a race day t-shirt so you can make your way around the park in style. And you’ll get a medal and virtual goodie bag once you’ve finished the course.
