At Cranleigh Prep we offer a range of specialist technology subjects with the aim of giving pupils transferable skills to succeed in the workplace of the future, whatever that might look like. To equip them to embrace the ever-evolving world of technology and become innovators, leaders and changemakers of tomorrow.
Pupils have the opportunity to work with hand tools, CAD software and Computer Aided Manufacture hardware including a laser cutter and 3D printer, workshop tools and machinery. Projects focus on resistant materials, product and graphic design and electronic products. Our aim is to inspire and send them on the journey to becoming some of the world’s future designers and engineers.
Whether building robotic prototypes or crafting intricate lines of code, our pupils demonstrate teamwork, pooling their skills and expertise to bring their ideas to life. Together, they push the boundaries, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and shared achievement. Amidst this incredible journey, the importance of online safety shines brightly.
An integral part of music education, pupils relish the opportunity to create and manipulate sounds using different DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations). We have a wonderful music IT suite where pupils use programmes such as Sound Trap and Chrome Music Lab. Pupils in Forms 5 (Year 7) and 6 (Year 8) have their own iPad on which they can use GarageBand as a precursor to Logic Pro. Music Technology is an inclusive class where every pupil can produce a complete and satisfying project.
Media Club provides pupils with the opportunity to explore the fundamentals of the film industry, from filming to editing. Using cameras and composition, pupils learn how to capture and create engaging content. Through hands-on experience, they gain a deeper understanding of the technical aspects if film production such as lighting, sound and editing.
