Clever Skiing at Madonna di Campiglio
At the heart of the Dolomites, Madonna di Campiglio is a firm favourite for seasoned skiiers and this year a clever innovation to passes means you only pay for the time you actually skied. Starpass is the next-generation card that replaces the traditional season ticket. It’s available online (at mypass.ski or using the mypass app) and is associated with the MyPass Ski card (which has annual cost of 10 euros). You can have the card sent to your home or pick it up at the ski area.
Starpass uses the MyPass Ski system, so it only charges you for the time you actually skied, because it calculates the difference between your first and last time up the slope. The price you pay depends on whether it’s low, high, or very high season. By skiing on the “right” days, you can both save money and enjoy perfectly groomed, uncrowded slopes. Plus, the price of the ski passes you purchase will never reach the highest list price. When you get to the Campiglio Dolomiti di Brenta ski area, you can skip the lines at the ticket office and head straight to the slopes.
Escape to the picturesque Dorset countryside to recover from the festive excesses and snuggle up in a cosy hideaway at Outbuildings. The family-run Outbuildings have 7 gorgeous, rustic-chic lodges sleeping 2-6 adults. In February they will launch two more. Think a mini-Soho Farmhouse, without all the people you might run into!
This family run converted farm sleeps 2-6 people in each of its 7 (soon 9) beautifully appointed lodges – each one converted from traditional barns and farm buildings. It’s a place to escape the rat run and immerse yourself in quiet indulgence. Think champagne in the woodland outdoor hot tub, cuddling up in the Hay Barn Cinema with hot chocolate, pizza and naughty treats on tap, ordering delicious cocktails to your sofa (Text for a Tipple) and cooking up a storm with the Breakfast Bites hamper.
Two new lodges will open in February 2024, located in ‘The Byre’. Both will have outdoor copper baths, showers with a view, and big beds looking out of wall of glass.
Three times a week local chef Mark Kick, formerly of The Ivy, whips up a delicious menu of local, seasonal produce in The Cart Shed. Alternatively, you can enjoy home-cooked ‘ready meals’ in your lodge or the Baaaa.
While most rooms suit adults-only, cots can be supplied on request, but please ask when booking.
Book a Festival!
You may have gathered that we’re all in favour of booking things to look forward to and this one should be on your list. Elderflower Fields invites you to the happiest little corner of the Sussex countryside for a weekend of adventure and fun. Taking place 24-26th May, this award-winning family festival is filled with music, art, nature, sport, science, and a chance for kids to be kids and parents to relax in the beautiful surroundings of the Ashdown Forest.
Designed for those with young children, Elderflower Fields is an opportunity for little festival first-timers to lead the way into a magical world of Moonshine Fandango fun, Leapfrog Lawns games, and Urban Woods adventure. Many families return year after year with the knowledge of a safe and nurturing holiday filled with new experiences and unforgettable family memories. Set in the exquisite High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, expect the finest locally sourced food and drink, a woodland spa for adults, and plenty of camping space with excellent facilities and glamping upgrades available.
This year’s theme ‘Fairytales Gone Wrong vs Rubbish Ideas’ will fill the woods with upcycled wonder. A world of wonky stories and imaginative ideas. Celebrate the wealth of creativity that can be found in pre-loved and post-use helping achieve the Festival Vision 2025 pledge for sustainable outdoor events. Of course, all with a sprinkling of Elderflower Fields magic!
