It was a busy Autumn term in the Performing Arts faculty at Bede’s Prep School in Eastbourne! The academic year kicked off in September with sunny Bede’s Fest at Bede’s Senior School – a wonderful, trust-wide music event where some of our pupils sang brilliant solos on stage in front of a crowd on the lawn.
A poignant Remembrance service at our local church saw our choir sing some beautiful hymns as well as wonderful solo flute and trumpet performances from our musicians. Some pupils also performed reflective poetry. In late November, our choir spread cheer at the local festive market – ‘Meads Magic’ with some Christmas carol performances.
The Year 5 and 6 show, ‘Christmas with the Krackers’, as well as ‘A Bundle of Joy’ Nativity performances were a wonderful opportunity for all pupils to shine whether they had a leading role or were part of the chorus. We are incredibly proud of those who performed at the Piano Concert or Percussion and Guitar Concert. They dazzled audiences with their skill and talent. From classical tunes to original compositions – there was something for everyone!
Finally, the recent two-night glittering Gala Concert gave our Flautists and String players the opportunity to join forces with pupils from the Senior School to perform in their Concert Band. The concert was a black tie event whereby the audience were treated to an evening of music and a delicious two-course meal. The numbers “Let’s Get Loud”, “Joyful Holidays”, “Swingin’ on the Housetops”, “Pinball Wizard”, and “At Last” left the audiences in awe.
What a term! We are incredibly proud of our pupils whose talent, dedication and passion is clear to see from their many outstanding performances in the Autumn term. In the Spring term, we’ll have our Prep Schools Orchestral and Instrumental Day and our Dance showcase as just some of the Performing Arts events we have taking place.
