Brighton College Prep School provides a decade of difference for its pupils; children begin their educational journey in Nursery at three years old and progress to the senior school at the age of 13.
The innovative Nursery curriculum is where it all starts. Teachers place a strong emphasis on encouraging early literacy skills, physical development, role-play and introducing technology. Teaching is progressive and varied, enabling the children to have a seamless transition into one of the three vibrant Reception classes. Here they enjoy the added benefits of French, Mandarin, art, PE, games and music. They also benefit from weekly lessons in computing, teaching vital IT skills and library lessons aimed at inspiring all pupils to read widely. Swimming lessons start when the children are five and, from six years, the boys and girls have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument and become confident performers.
As the children progress their world of learning expands again to incorporate curriculum drama, home economics and design and technology, alongside the traditional maths, English, science and humanities subjects. The outstanding co-curricular provision incorporates LAMDA courses, choirs, music ensembles and orchestras. Over 100 clubs and activities are offered to the children during lunchtimes and after school, ranging from sewing or chess to engineering or tennis.
