The new exhibition highlights the impact and influence its made over the years, as well as the changes the industry has gone through. Over 250 objects tell the story, with more than a fair share of outfits to marvel at along the way.

Africa Fashion explores the vitality and global impact of a fashion scene as dynamic and varied as the continent itself. The exhibition spans from iconic mid-20th century through to contemporary creatives with the aid of photographs, textiles, music and also the visual arts.

Explore how music and the visual arts were integral to Africa’s cultural renaissance, laying the foundation for today’s fashion revolution. New acquisitions highlighting fashion trends of the day, paired with personal testimonies, will go on show for the first time. The exhibition highlights the new generation of designers, collectives, stylists and fashion photographers working across the continent. They are transforming global fashions as we know them today.
