The event all mini bookworms have been waiting for as Barnes Children’s Literature Festival returns with family-friendly book readings, workshops and performances from all your favourite authors.

When: June 9 to 26, open to the public 25 & 26 June for loads of family activities too.

Where: WWT London Wetland Centre. The festival is held in a field at end of the car park, so you don’t need an entry ticket to the Wetland Centre to attend.

Ticket price: Tickets go on sale May 21.

Liz Pichon, the superstar creator of the Tom Gates series, Waterstones Children’s Book Prize winner Rob Biddulph as well as Festival favourite, Gruffalo illustrator Axel Scheffler all lead the line up at the Barnes Children’s Literature Festival.

Also appearing are Green Wing actor and comedian Steven Mangan, the political cartoonist for The Observer, Chris Riddell, as well as the acclaimed poet and performer, Lemn Sissay.

There is plenty of entertainment for non-fiction fans too. Horrible Histories’ Martin Brown and the million-selling author and former NHS doctor, Dr Adam Kay will make an appearance.

Highlights include Paddington Bear’s First Concert. There will be a storytelling adventure with BBC Radio 4 presenter Zeb Soanes. Also on the agenda are family workshops with Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre and Aardman Animations.
