ENJOY A FAMILY DAY OUT AT LONDON’S MUSEUMS
Calling all mini museum lovers – enjoy a cultural day out with your grown ups as London museums and art galleries are open, with lots of great exhibitions to explore.
Venues will have to stick to Covid-19 safety rules for now, such as limiting visitors and offering pre-booked time slots. Double check museum websites on the links below before your visit.
The British Museum Entry to the Museum will be ticketed, both for the free collection and paid exhibitions. Book a timed slot in advance.
Natural History Museum All visitors must book a free ticket in advance online for guaranteed entry. There are a limited number of walk-up tickets available.
Victoria and Albert Museum Museum entry is still free but you’ll need to pre-book a timed ticket online.
Science Museum Book free tickets online.
Royal Museums Greenwich for National Maritime Museum (free entry), Cutty Sark, Queen’s House and Royal Observatory Book timed slots. You can also buy a Royal Museums Greenwich Day Pass for entry to all sites.
Museum of London and Museum of London Docklands. Book free tickets online.

Horniman Museum and Gardens The Museum and Butterfly House are expected to open while the Gardens have remained open. Check website for booking updates.
The Tate Book tickets for Tate Britain and Tate Modern online.
Design Museum Online booking needed for both free and paid exhibitions.
London Transport Museum Book a timed entry slot before you visit. Kids go free, with adults receiving unlimited daytime return entry for a year. Families can also go behind-the-scenes at the Museum Depot in Acton for May half-term.
Imperial War Museums IWM London and Churchill War Rooms. Tickets are available to prebook. HMS Belfast open open from Thursday July 8th to Sunday September 5th.
Dulwich Picture Gallery Opening times will be Wednesday to Sunday, 10am–5pm. Book tickets in advance.
The Postal Museum Book tickets in advance.
The Charles Dickens Museum Open Wednesday to Sundays 10am – 5pm. Book in advance, walk ups will be accommodated subject to availability.
Saatchi Gallery Pre-booking advised.

London Museum of Water and Steam Open daily in school holidays and on Saturdays and Sundays during term time. Book time slot online.
Museum of the Home Entry is free but for now all visitors need to book a timed ticket in advance. Open Tuesday to Sunday 10am–5pm.
National Army Museum Book a free time slot online before visiting.
The Cartoon Museum Booking is not necessary to visit the museum. Closed on Mondays.
