Celebrate Mexican culture and Day of the Dead festivities with Kew Gardens’ Mexico Family Festival. The Temperate House fills up with art installations, while workshops and activities get you in the party spirit. Learn some new dance moves and try on some new outfits before enjoying the Day of the Dead Parade, all the while sampling bespoke food and drink.

Celebrate Day of the Dead with all the family at Kew Gardens during October Half Term.

Immerse yourself in the vibrancy of Mexican culture with a whole day of fun, family activities, from dress-up stations, carnival dance workshops, parades, through to our unique art installations in the Temperate House that bring Mexico to life. Remember to keep your eyes peeled for our slumber of jungle sloths!

Carnival dance workshops: Discover the characters and stories of Day of the Dead through movement. Dance together and learn some new moves to show off during the parade.

Day of the Dead Parade: Dancers in detailed make up and elaborate costumes along with giant skeleton puppets will lead families on a parade with dancing, music and props.

Dress-up Station: Try on hats and headdresses and take a selfie with a giant skeleton.

Eating and drinking: Close to the Temperate house, you’ll find Kew’s Pavilion Bar and Grill.

Guest Chef at the Pavilion Bar and Grill: During the festival, enjoy a bespoke menu celebrating Mexican cuisine designed by chef Edson Diaz-Fuentes.

Family Kitchen & Shop: Stop by our new multi-sensory Family Kitchen & Shop – a perfect pitstop for a family day out.
