More information from organisers:
Approximate run time: 45 minutes per performance. Run times may vary by up to 20 minutes as they can be affected by last-minute programme changes, intervals and encores.
SMOOSH by Paraorchestra brings a wind and brass band as well as a troupe of dancers for an on-the-move performance of pop-karaoke classics. Think Fatboy Slim meets Kate Bush meets Basement Jaxx. For SMOOSH, a core of Paraorchestra musicians, as well as up to 50 local players, are joined by professional and community dancers to form a mobile human jukebox.
You’re invited out onto the South Bank of the Thames to dance and sing along in a magnificent, cacophonous, communal karaoke – a ‘massaoke’!
Composed by Emma-Jean Thackray, with choreography by Tom Jackson Greaves and Beth Hinton-Lever. Directed by Charles Hazlewood. Produced by Paraorchestra. Presented by the Southbank Centre.
The show is part of the Southbank’s classical music programme, which features exceptional artists, orchestras and ensembles from around the globe.
