Take a free family trip through the British Library’s collection and discover the stories behind objects which take you to wondrous places with Story Explorers.

What’s in the Library? Lots and lots of books of course, but did you know there are also ancient objects, surprising sounds and exciting art? Oh and a giant furry octopus!  

Whatever it is, everything in the Library has a story to tell, and so do you. See some of these weird and wonderful items up close, all while you explore three imaginary worlds in the new, free family experience Story Explorers.

Here’s what to expect when you visit: 

• you’ll have an hour and a half to enjoy the gallery and you can arrive and leave anytime during the slot you’ve booked. For each timeslot, visitor numbers will be capped at 30. This is to make sure your family have the space and time to get stuck in!
• three fantastic worlds to explore which have been co-created with families. Step out in space, explore deep in the jungle and dive under the ocean
• interactive elements for children to play with including a fun activity trail around the space
• a book corner to sit and relax together, with braille and tactile editions
