The Parent Agency, the best-selling book by comedian and author David Baddiel, is set to be a brand-new musical next year, featuring music and additional lyrics by Dan Gillespie Sells.

This musical adaptation of David Baddiel’s hit children’s book, The Parent Agency, follows 11-year-old Barry Bennett, who wishes for different parents and is whisked away to a fantastical world where kids choose their own parents. The musical, marking the 10th anniversary of the beloved book, combines humour, adventure, and the lesson that the grass isn’t always greener. The score is by Dan Gillespie Sells, known for Everybody’s Talking About Jamie.

The creative team includes director Tim Jackson, choreographer Carrie-Anne Ingrouille, and award-winning designers. Baddiel shares his excitement for his first children’s book becoming a musical, while Gillespie Sells looks forward to bringing the story’s magic to the stage with his signature musical flair.

The Parent Agency – The Musical will debut at Storyhouse Chester, from Saturday, 15th February, to Sunday, 2nd March, 2025. Gala Night is Wednesday, 19th February.
