We Were There family days at Imperial War Museum London and Duxford, as well as their HMS Belfast site, allow you to meet and listen to veterans and eyewitnesses accounts of conflict. Hear stories about life in war from an array of viewpoints, and learn more about what life was like during conflict times.

Meet IWM’s Veterans and eyewitnesses of conflict and gain a unique and first-hand insight into the impact of war on people’s lives. Hear an array of personal stories, recollections and nostalgic tales from those who were part of the war.
From Bridge to Bakery, our eyewitnesses and veterans will be sharing their memories of life at sea, and what it was like to grow up during the Second World War.
We Were There IWM London takes place every Tuesday during the summer months. Find our special guests across the museum, giving an opportunity for all visitors to hear their true stories – ranging from driving a tank to being evacuated from the place they called home.
Every Wednesday during the Summer holidays, IWM Duxford will be welcoming some very special guests who will draw upon their personal experiences to answer your questions.
Every Friday during the summer holidays, HMS Belfast will be welcoming some very special guests who will draw upon their personal experiences to answer your questions.
